Kensay
Kensay is located at the Northern slopes of the Saur Ridge and has a complex geological structure and complicated topographic conditions. It is a copper-porphyry occurrence associated with hydrothermal-metasomatic zones within the Saur intrusive complex.
The principal ore mineralizations contains pyrite, chalcopyrite, minor arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, and sphalerite. Historical grades:
- Copper: 0.01–0.6% (occasionally up to 1%)
- Molybdenum: 0.0008–0.03% (up to 0.1%)
- Gold: 0.1–0.5 g/t
- Silver: 1–10 g/t
Geochemical anomalies are most prominent near the granodiorite contact zones. Kensay has good potential for resource expansion. Only a few holes were drilled in the Soviet time, mainly at the edges of delineated mineralized zones. Ongoing exploration includes geophysic and geochemical surveys, and verification drilling has been planned.
