Kensay
Kensay is located on the northern slopes of the Saur Ridge and is geologically and topographically complex. It is a copper-porphyry occurrence associated with hydrothermal-metasomatic zones within the Saur intrusive complex.
Main ore minerals: pyrite, chalcopyrite, minor arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, and sphalerite. Historical grades:
Copper: 0.01–0.6% (up to 1% in places)
Molybdenum: 0.0008–0.03% (up to 0.1%)
Gold: 0.1–0.5 g/t
Silver: 1–10 g/t
Geochemical anomalies are most prominent near the granodiorite contact zones. Kensay has good potential for resource expansion. Only a few holes were drilled in Soviet times, mainly at the deposit’s margins. Ongoing work includes geophysics and geochemistry, with resource-definition drilling planned.
